As you all know, Room306 holds a special place in my heart. Their brand of nu-jazz infused lo-fi is the perfect music for a rain afternoon. More than that, the band manages to showcase their exceptional musicianship without sacrificing any of the soul. We had the privilege of asking them a few questions ahead of their performance at this year’s Zandari Festa, and First Aid was kind of enough to answer!
We’d love to get an introduction to your band in your own words. Will you tell us who makes up your band, and how you describe your style of music?
We are an electronic pop music trio called Room306. I write the songs and play sampler, Hong Hyo-jin cowrites the songs and sings and Chae Ji-su plays keys. All of Room306’s music is based on my ideas, and they are built up from Hyo-jin and Ji-su’s interpretation.
What does being invited to play at Zandari Festa 2017 mean to you?
It’s a chance to expand our audience beyond our usual fans. Our gig will be like an experiment to see how far we can spread our personal enlightenment of emotion.
What is the best part of Zandari Festa for you?
The mood. The energy and atmosphere in Hongdae is fantastic during Zandari Festa.
Who do you want to see play at Zandari Festa this year?
Silica Gel – they’re amazing artists.
What can people at Zandari Festa expect from your performance?
A cure for a cold heart. We don’t face away from your subtle emotions by making simple or easy music; instead we confront the grain of feelings and try to understand them with our songs. Come and see.
Room306 will be performing at Club Crack on Friday, September 29 from 19:00 (7PM) – 20:00 (8PM).
