I’ve been so eager to share this artist with the RNS readers that I was anxiously waiting to have time to write a piece about his new release “Liberated.” For the past few days, I’ve been talking to friends about him and endlessly praising his songwriting and lyricism skills to no end. I wish I could turn back time to catch his shows in Los Angeles.
Singer-songwriter NIve, also known as Jisoo Park, settled in Los Angeles after living in South Korea and Australia. He is a multi-instrumentalist and producer. For those of you that are fans of South Korean pop group EXO, you might have heard his work. NIve co-wrote Chen’s “Beautiful Goodbye,” one of the songs from his solo album April and a Flower.
NIve has released four singles in the past two years, and “Liberated,” his latest release, was the first single I heard.
The song opens up with a soft and warm riff. The acoustic guitar gives the song a natural feeling and the plucking of the strings is calming. The melody evolves after every verse, adding layers of music, and at the chorus the song blooms. I was in awe for a moment. The melody is lifting, carefree, and enduring.
Furthermore, his voice is comforting, tender, and spirited. It lulls your worries and pacifies the mind. Through every verse it becomes more radiant and piercing. If you happen to look up the lyrics you’ll be more in love with this song. He delivers such beautiful words of encouragement and hope.
The lyrics are a reminder to me that there is always someone who has the same troubles and feelings as many of us. Verses such as “If you want, I’ll be your light / Till you find the one within you” made my heart flutter.
In the MV’s description of the song NIve explains that it is “an uplifting anthem of hope and consolation for anyone who is struggling in life… that it’s okay not to be okay; there is a freedom that comes with acknowledging your struggle… leaning on someone is not a sign of weakness, but rather, a step towards growth and healing.”
Also, this felt like a view into how we feel when we want to help someone. It’s hard sometimes to encourage and support those around us when they are in their most vulnerable moments. You reach out in hopes that they take your hand, but we must be persistent and present despite the lack of response and unwillingness.
Everything about this release is fantastic. In order to get the whole experience you must watch the MV. NIve uses natural elements such as forests, skies, seas, and open green fields and contrasts them with dark spaces. The MV follows the journey of a young woman trying to make it out these dark spaces by walking through a white door and stepping out into a beautiful, luscious landscape. Each verse is presented with coinciding sceneries that make up the mood of the MV. It’s an absolute experience, and it touched me deeply.

Durante los últimos días, he estado hablando con amigos sobre él y alabando sin cesar sus habilidades de composición y lirismo sin fin. Desearía poder retroceder el tiempo para ver sus shows en Los Ángeles.
El cantante y compositor NIve, también conocido como Jisoo Park, se estableció en Los Ángeles después de vivir en Corea del Sur y Australia. Es un multi-instrumentista y productor. Además, esto se sintió como una vista de cómo nos sentimos cuando queremos ayudar a alguien. A veces es difícil alentar y apoyar a quienes nos rodean cuando están en sus momentos más vulnerables. Llegas con la esperanza de que tomen tu mano, pero debemos ser persistentes y presentes a pesar de la falta de respuesta y de voluntad.
Todo sobre este lanzamiento es fantástico. Para obtener toda la experiencia, debes ver el MV. NIve utiliza elementos naturales como bosques, cielos, mares y campos verdes abiertos y los contrasta con espacios oscuros. El MV sigue el viaje de una mujer joven que trata de salir de estos espacios oscuros vía una puerta blanca y sale a un hermoso paisaje. Cada verso se presenta con paisajes coincidentes que conforman el estado de ánimo del MV. Es una experiencia completa y me conmovió profundamente.
