[Out of the Box] Tokyolite

A couple of weeks ago I was introduced to the Indonesian band Tokyolite (Thank you Martin!) and it was truly love at first listen. I immediately went to devour all of the content I could find on YouTube and what I discovered was that, not only do they make great music, they also seem like a cool bunch of guys that you’d just want to hang out with.

Tokyolite’s sound is a fusion of multiple genres. Pop, funk, jazz, rock, and blues… just to name a few. The tetrad hails from Bogor, Indonesia, has garnered interest in Japan, and has their sights set on performing at Zandari Festa in South Korea later on this year.

I am new to the indie scene in Indonesia but I have it on good authority that there is a treasure trove of great music waiting  to be discovered and a booming scene in cities like Jakarta. Tokyolite is my gateway drug and I am ready to meet my new addictions!

Please look forward to our upcoming interview with the guys and in the meantime… check out their latest single “Cycle” below.
