Zandari Interview with Billy Carter

As Zandari Festa 2018 draws near, we at Rock N Seoul wanted to give readers the opportunity to learn more about the artists who’ll be bringing Hongdae to its knees for one of the city’s most unforgettable annual music events.

One of RnS’s most highly anticipated performers is Billy Carter. This trio of misfits makes some of the quirkiest rock to come out of Korea. Mixing a penchant for the rough and rowdy with stellar musicianship and unwavering cheekiness, they’ve made a name for themselves as one of Korea’s premier rock bands.

Billy Carter’s lead vocalist Kim Jiwon took time out of the band’s busy pre-festa schedule to answer some questions for us.

What is the most exciting part of Zandari Festa?
The drinking part! There is so much free beer at Zandari Festa for musicians.

What makes your music unique?
It’s honest, I guess. It feels like I get naked emotionally onstage.

What did you want to be when growing up?
My mom. Not a mother, but literally “my” mom. She’s still my biggest role model.

What advice would you give your younger self?
Try not to be a good person all the time.

What is the most important thing you want people attending Zandari Festa to know about you and your music?
It’s important that they get out to our showcase on Friday night.

If you could be a super hero, what would be your name and your power?
Billy Carter, and my super power would be empathy.

Billy Carter play at Zandari Festa on October 5 at 9:40 pm at Veloso.
