Tilde (틸더) is a new quartet composed of Laser (vocals), Kim Han Gyeol (guitar), Yang Joon Hyuk (bass), and Kand Dong Kyu (drums). Laser’s voice might sound familiar. That’s because he was the vocalist for Phonebooth (폰부스). Phonebooth has ended all activities, but thankfully Laser is part of this band, so we get to hear his voice again. On the other hand, Joon Hyuk, plays for another band called 828.
Yesterday, Tilde released their first single, “Live Without You,” on YouTube. The single was composed by Han Gyeol and was recorded at Rock ’N’ Roll Radio’s recording studio with the help of Kim Jinkyu (producer, guitarist and vocalist of RNRR) and mixed and mastered by Kim Taewoo. Laser tells me that the lyrics Han Gyeol wrote talk about parting ways with someone, “Maybe it’s a sad story, but the song is exciting.”
An exciting song with a sad story? That’s definitely up my alley. Growing up with The Smiths and Depeche Mode, I naturally gravitate towards these types of songs.
“Live Without You” starts off with Han Gyeol on guitar with a rapid melody. It shortly transitions to the main guitar riff, which is radiant and energizing. He manages to capture summer vibes in this song beautifully. It’s pretty much like a wave. It starts off intensely. Then the melody unwinds just like when the wave reaches its peak and crashes down. As the wave makes it way to the shore, it’s calm until it retracts, and then a new wave forms. What makes it appealing for me is the way Laser delivers the lyrics; his voice is easygoing and laid-back with bursts of energy throughout the song. It’s definitely one of my favorite songs this summer, and I can’t wait to hear more from Tilde.

El Primer Sencillo de Tilde (틸더) – “Live Without You”

Ayer, Tilde lanzó su primer sencillo, “Live Without You”, en YouTube. ¿Una canción emocionante con una historia triste? Eso definitivamente es lo mío. Al crecer con The Smiths y Depeche Mode, gravito naturalmente hacia este tipo de canciones.
“Live Without You” comienza con Han Gyeol en la guitarra con una melodía rápida. Transita brevemente al riff principal de la guitarra, que es radiante y energizante. Se las arregla para capturar el ambiente de verano en esta canción maravillosamente. Es más o menos como una ola. Empieza intensamente. Luego, la melodía se desenrolla como cuando la ola alcanza su pico y se estrella. A medida que la ola llega a la orilla, se calma hasta que se retrae, y luego se forma una nueva ola.
