Windy Cat is an alternative duo consisting of singer-songwriter Kim Hye-rim and producer Oh Young Suk. The duo debuted in 2010 with their EP Nobody Knows and have steadily pushed forward with new styles of music with almost each release. I got to know them through their EP Windycats which has a beautiful mixture of electronic folk sounds accompanied by Hye-rim’s light-hearted voice. My favorite song from that EP is Lame Duck because it offers a carefree tune that reminds me of the early years of my life. Their full-length album, Win The Cat, offers more electronic pop sounds. This album is easy going, like a day at the park. It offers the slow breezes, the sunny rays, and the charming views.
In their most recent EP release, Paran (Blue), the duo delves into pop electronic dance tunes. Luminous Star features a more upbeat atmosphere with both Young Suck and Hye-rim equally sharing vocals. Paran (Blue), on the other hand, is less flashy and has a steady beat. Both of the tracks have a rainbow of elements that make the songs weightless, cheerful and stimulating. This EP is a jolt of electricity compared to the rest of their past work.
Windy Cat is a bag of surprises because each of their releases is very different from the previous ones. They try new genres in mostly every release, but I have to point out that my favorite style will always be their electronic folk harmonies. If you like surprises in your playlist, I highly recommend Windy Cat they are sure to shake up your list.

Windy Cat es un dúo alternativo compuesto por la cantante y compositora Kim Hye-rim y el productor Oh Young Suk. El dúo debutó en 2010 con su EP Nobody Knows y ha avanzado constantemente con nuevos estilos de música con casi cada lanzamiento. Llegué a conocerlos a través de su EP Windycats, que tiene una hermosa mezcla de sonidos folclóricos electrónicos acompañados por la voz alegre de Hye-rim. Mi canción favorita de ese EP es Lame Duck porque ofrece una melodía despreocupada que me recuerda de los primeros años de mi vida. Su álbum de larga duración, Win The Cat, ofrece más sonidos pop electrónicos. Este álbum es encantador, como un día en el parque. Ofrece la brisa lenta, los rayos soleados, y las vistas encantadoras.
En su último lanzamiento de EP, Paran (Azul), el dúo se enfoca en las melodías de baile electrónico pop. Luminous Star cuenta con un ambiente más optimista, y el dúo comparte los coros de la cancion. Paran (Azul), por otro lado, es menos llamativo y tiene un ritmo constante. Ambas pistas tienen un arco iris de elementos que hacen que las canciones sean ingrávidas, alegres y estimulantes. Este EP es un choque de electricidad en comparación con el resto de su trabajo anterior.
Windy Cat es una bolsa de sorpresas porque cada uno de sus lanzamientos es muy diferente de los anteriores. Intentan nuevos géneros en casi todos los lanzamientos, pero tengo que señalar que mi estilo favorito siempre será su armonía folk electrónica. Si te gustan las sorpresas en tu lista de musica, te recomiendo Windy Cat que están seguros de sacudir tu lista.
